Hello, welcome to Arista Advice.

Here are five things you can do if your identity, unfortunately, has been stolen.

Number 1: File a report with the Federal Trade Commission.
Number 2: Contact your local police department.
Number 3: Notify the IRS and your identity theft insurance if applicable. If you don't have a formalized identity theft program, please get one. It's very affordable and the benefits can be enormous.
Number 4: Place a fraud alert on your credit report notifying other credit issuers and mortgage companies that there has been a fraud alert, and number 5: Place a freeze on your credit.

Credit is becoming very, very important as the years pass because it's being used not just for credit cards, but it's being used for credit cards, home loans, car loans,  and also health insurance companies are now pulling it.

Hope it's helpful. Look forward to talking to you soon.
